Cycling around Alresford

With over 750 miles of off-road cycle routes, Hampshire is a great place to explore by bicycle. The Pink House Bed & Breakfast is located on one of Hampshire’s main bike routes and cyclists are always welcome.

Route 23 of the National Cycle Network currently connects Alresford with Basingstoke and Reading to the north and Alton to the east.

In the future, Route 23 is to be extended south to Winchester, Eastleigh, Southampton and — via ferry — to Cowes and Sandown on the Isle of Wight. Small sections of this section are already open.

The eighteen miles of Route 23 from Basingstoke to Alresford is particularly attractive, cutting through the beautiful Hampshire countryside. The additional five-mile spur from Alresford to Alton includes a traffic-free cycle lane through Chawton Park Wood.

Armed with an Ordnance Survey map, there is also plenty of opportunity for more adventurous cyclists to venture off the main route. The Ox Drove Way Off Road Cycle Trail is especially popular with mountain bikers

Many of the area’s beautiful walks can also be explored by cycle.
