Historic Alresford
The beautiful small town of Alresford is a jewel in the Hampshire countryside. The Pink House Bed & Breakfast is located right in the centre of Alresford, on the historic Broad Street, and is a fine example of its fine Georgian architecture.

Alresford was established in 1189, but it is for its 17th century architecture that the town is best known today. The Pink House is typical of the Alresford’s attractive colour-washed façades.
The tree-lined Broad Street — upon which The Pink House Bed & Breakfast is located — is Alresford’s main thoroughfare. The town’s other architectural highlights include its picturesque Fulling Mill and St. John’s Parish Church.
Watercress has replaced wool as Alresford’s main industry, celebrated in the annual Watercress Festival. The Watercress Line, meanwhile, is a beautiful heritage railway which terminates at Alresford. The town is also a centre of antique and fashion shopping, and home to many excellent pubs and restaurants.
Alresford has been voted favourite market town in south-east England in Country Life magazine and visitors have no difficulty understanding why. “There’s a pretty main street which dips down to the gentle Arle river where from time to time the Morris dancers gather”, wrote an Irish Times reviewer. “A pub or three. A parish church with its Saxon rood, square crenellated tower and graves of Napoleonic prisoners of war”.
